| Bowling for Columbine’s three-minute animated sequence, “A Brief History of the U.S.A.,” was written by Michael Moore, with animation directed by FlickerLab's Harold Moss, who also provided the voice-overs. Presenting an extremely condensed history of fear and violence in the U.S. -- from the arrival of the pilgrims to white flight to the suburbs -- Variety called the cartoon "worth the price of admission," while The Hollywood Reporter described it as "a joyously funny cartoon sequence.” | |
